City return to league action with an early kick-off this weekend

Hull City must get back on the horse and set their focus on kickstarting their Championship promotion push this weekend, according to teenage defender Cathal McCarthy, who says the club have plenty to look forward to in the final weeks of what’s been a thrilling Championship campaign.

City were dumped out of the FA Cup by a clinical Chelsea side, who eased to a comfortable 4-0 victory, leaving the Tigers to focus on the battle for promotion.

Sergej Jakirovic’s men slipped to fifth in the league over the weekend, courtesy of Millwall’s 2-1 win at bottom side Sheffield Wednesday, but face a QPR team beaten on their own patch by Blackburn Rovers.

With the FA Cup now a distant memory, the Tigers now face the first of seven games in 21 days, and a third of four consecutive home games, and McCarthy is keen to see a response from Jakirovic’s men after the disappointment of the past two league outings.
