Hull City Council is urgently appealing for information regarding a recent fly-tipping incident in the Sculcoates area. The illegally deposited waste was discovered in Kirkby Street, near Wincolmlee, Hull.
It is believed to have been deposited between 6pm on Thursday, February 5 and 6am on Friday, February 6. Following reports made on the Friday, the council cleared the site and urges anyone with information to come forward.
Councillor Charles Quinn, portfolio holder for environment in Hull, said: “Fly-tipping is a crime that we do not tolerate in Hull. It is unsightly, potentially harmful to human health, and damaging to the environment.
“Not only is it a blight on our local environment, the removal of fly-tipping costs taxpayers thousands in clean–up costs every year – money that could otherwise be spent on other essential council services. We would strongly encourage anyone who has any information, or who has seen the person or persons responsible for the deposit of this waste, to contact the council in confidence.”
If you recognise the waste having come from your property or business, it is imperative that you contact the council immediately, as you could be the victim of a rogue waste collector. Additionally, the council asks residents, and businesses, to check their CCTV, video doorbell, or dash-cam footage for any suspicious activity which may help identify the person/persons responsible.
