Big time boxing is returning to Hull next month
Big time boxing returns to Hull next month with a new promotion and new promoter in Curtis Woodhouse, who promises fight fans will get what they deserve with ‘real fights and real risks’.
The former professional footballer who became British boxing champion is well known for his prowess on a football field and in a boxing ring, but now he’s hoping to make his mark as a trainer and promoter, with his first major show coming to Hull next month.
Connexin Live will host the 3156 Boxing promotion ‘Battle on the Humber’ on Saturday Match 21, with national radio broadcasters talkSPORT presenting live commentary of the event in a major partnership for Woodhouse’s fledgling promotion company.
The night is headlined by what threatens to be a compelling and difficult to call domestic clash as Central Area Middleweight Champion Ryszard Lewicki defends his title against Red Johnson.
Also on the bill will be IBO Continental Lightweight Champion Lewis Sylvester, who has moved across to Woodhouse’s 3156 Management. Joining Sylvester on the card are new stablemates, Harry Powell and Adrian King, alongside Hull favourite Ted Jackson.
Woodhouse is excited about the line-up being put together and is promising this is just the start for his new promotion. “This is about the fighters, they are the real stars of the show and having talkSPORT as our broadcasting partner only strengthens eyes on them to perform,” said Woodhouse.
“We’re in this for competitive fights. We want real risks for the boxers and to put on nights where fans feel they’ve got value for money. We’re starting exactly how we mean to go on.”
With 10 bouts currently scheduled, also in action will be Nathan Forest, Harry Edgecumbe, Olly Hockney and Ellis Price.
Tickets are on sale via the Connexin Live website. For VIP tables, hospitality and sponsorship opportunities, enquiries are welcomed at info@3156-boxing.co.uk.
