A humanoid robot called Harold has spent a day in Hull city centre as a tourist and even stopped for a boogie outside The Deep today, as seen in uncanny photographs.

The robot from Huddersfield University visited destinations that feature in this year’s Colliderfest. Harold arrived into Hull Paragon Interchange on a Hull Trains service and met many curious onlookers at the station’s tourism pod.

Harold’s ‘Dad’ Professor John Murray at Huddersfield University said: “We are out here today in Hull as part of the Colliderfest event which is happening in March to showcase technology and showcase the robot and to get out and meet people and drum up interest in Colliderfest, to show how technology is advancing and some of the research at the University of Huddersfield.”

A full programme for Colliderfest is now available to view and ticketed shows and events can now be booked via the Colliderfest website.

The event, running from Thursday 12 until Sunday 15 March, features appearances from British space scientist and science educator, Dame Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock, Team GB Olympian Grant Hardie, and British Ice Dancing great, Sir Christopher Dean.

Colliderfest will celebrate all things STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) and Harold the robot will be returning for the festival.

Harold will be based around the Federation of Sport and Museums Quarter during March’s event weekend. If you want to catch Harold’s dance moves, have a look at our photographs.
