53 drugs tests were also carried out
The Roads Policing Team of Humberside Police continue to tackle drink and drug driving. Here’s what you need to know:
- Humberside Police has been carrying out roadside breath and drug tests, as well as vehicle checks in areas where crashes have previously occurred. In January, officers carried out 53 drug tests and 152 breath tests.
- The force said that through both proactive operations and routine duties, officers have also arrested 32 people. 13 were arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of drugs, eight on suspicion of being over the prescribed limited, and 11 on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of both drink and drugs.
- Inspector John Rickells from our Roads Policing Unit said: “My officers continue to be out across the force area conducting roadside testing alongside their usual duties to ensure our roads remain safe for all motorists. The message is clear: any amount of drink or drugs affects your driving. If you are over the limit, you will be arrested, no excuses. Speeding, using your phone, driving under the influence, or a reckless judgement, just one second of these decisions can destroy lives forever. No journey is worth that risk. Drive safe, every time.”
- Humberside Police is encouraging members of the public to report any road traffic offences and dangerous driving by calling the non-emergency number 101 or 999 in an emergency, when safe to do so. Video evidence can be submitted via Op Snap.
