The City winger has endured a tough season after earning a move to Spain’s top flight
Abu Kamara is back at Hull City as he undergoes rehab for a foot injury, which has halted his hopes of making a strong impression in Spanish football.
The winger is on loan at Getafe in Spain’s La Liga for the duration of the season, but has returned to East Yorkshire for treatment on the injury he picked up in Europe.
Kamara has been at the MKM Stadium to watch Sergej Jakirovic’s men in action in recent weeks, and will remain in England until he’s fit enough to return to Madrid.
Since moving to the Spanish capital, Kamara has featured in games against Real Madrid and Barcelona, playing nine times in La Liga and once in the Copa del Rey. It’s understood that the 22-year-old isn’t expected back until March, which is a major blow to him and Getafe.

A decision could yet be taken to end his loan early, though Getafe are not thought to have the ability to call time on his short spell in Spain without City’s agreement, and discussions have been ongoing. Boss José Bordalás is believed to want the winger back at the Estadio Coliseum when he’s fit.
Should the loan be ended prematurely, though, Kamara could yet return to Jakirovic’s squad in the closing weeks of the season and potentially impact the club’s push for promotion.
Jakrirovic remains a fan of Kamara and could yet involve him in the remaining weeks, should the squad situation require it. City remain without Mo Belloumi until later in the season, if he’s able to return at all, but have signed the impressive Yu Hirakawa who caught the eye again in Saturday’s win over Swansea City, and they also have Liam Millar, Joel Ndala and David Akintola as natural wingers, while Joe Gelhardt returned to the right flank at the weekend and Kieran Dowell can play wide if required.
Lewis Koumas is expected to join the club on loan from Liverpool, but that can only happen when the Tigers move somebody out to free up space in their squad. Hull Live understands that it is not expected to be Joel Ndala, who has found opportunities limited at times, but there is likely to be another key departure.
