The Tigers expect a fairly low-key January window
Hull City continue to work to try and find room in their squad to enable the club to make new signings this month, but remain at an impasse.
The Tigers hope to add at least two new faces to Sergej Jakirovic’s squad before the winter transfer window closes at 7pm on February 2, but cannot do anything yet.
As it stands, City must sanction departures from their first team squad before new players can arrive, though conversations are ongoing with the EFL about what, if any, room for manoeuvre there could be in the coming days.
City want to sign goalkeeper Seny Dieng from Middlesbrough and Kieran Dowell from Rangers, while they have at least two other targets to boost Jakirovic’s squad.
Until the Tigers can ease players out, it’s unlikely that can happen, unless some common ground can be found with the EFL, and the topic of transfers was covered on the latest edition of the 1904 Club podcast.
As was the embarrassing nature of the postponement of Sunday’s Championship game with Watford, which was called off 15 minutes before kick-off after referee Anthony Backhouse shelved the contest after discussions with both clubs.
