The six-figure boost has created a ‘two door pub’ with separate areas to cater for different customers
A popular Hull pub has reopened following a six-figure investment to give the community venue a host of exciting upgrades. The Apollo has reopened in doors following a £345,000 boost from Marston’s to turn it into a ‘two door pub’ with separate areas to cater for different customers.
It now has a sports bar area and a separate family lounge – a lively bar for the locals and a cosy, family-friendly lounge. The operators said they have designed the Holderness Road venue to cater to all occasions, bring the community together, and offering guests flexibility.
To mark the opening, The Apollo invited community heroes Nicola Robinson and Gill Jagger of the Aim Higher Co-Foundation, together with Dean Hoggard from the Life for a Kid Co-Foundation. The charity representatives to pull the first pints and officially celebrate the pub’s grand opening.
New updated bar area features include large HD screens to keep guests entertained with all the latest sports action. The bar also has a darts area and pool table. The dog-friendly pub is also serving food alongside pints, with a new special festive set menu featuring Christmas classics such as traditional roast turkey and desserts including dark chocolate mint tart. Gluten-free and vegan options are also available on the menu.
General Manager Sophie Ford said she was delighted to invite Nicola, Gill and Dean along to the opening, to recognise how they go above and beyond to help the local community through the foundations they run.
She added: “At The Apollo, we’re excited to introduce our distinctive ‘Two Door Pub’ concept to the community. This investment reflects our commitment to creating a space where both locals and visitors can enjoy memorable experiences, whether it’s the thrill of live sports in our vibrant bar or the comfort of relaxing in our inviting family lounge.
“Every detail of this refurbishment has been carefully considered to cater for a variety of occasions, blending modern style with the warmth of home. With something for everyone, we can’t wait to welcome guests through our doors.”
The Hull hostelry has a list of events planned in the coming weeks, including a Social Club night November 20, a pub quiz on November 23 and a night of music with DJ Morgan on November 26. The Apollo is one of more than 1,300 Marston’s pubs and bars across England, Scotland, and Wales.
