Police are appealing for information after the incidents at Korna Grill

A Hull takeaway owner said he is “really struggling” after repeated attacks on his business. Mazzin Diyab, 44, owns Korna Grill which recently opened in Hull city centre.

Mazzin Diyab told Hull Daily Mail the problems began when an “aggressive” man is said to have come into the takeaway during opening hours and was “threatening the staff and ripping up the menu”. During a separate incident, Mazzin said the shop windows were smashed overnight.

Humberside Police confirmed it had received reports of criminal damage. The force has appealed for anyone with CCTV or information about the crime to come forward.

Sadly, when Mazzin arrived at the takeaway on Friday (October 24), the “last window standing was all smashed” following a third attack.

Korna Grill’s loyal base of customers have been very supportive and many said they were upset to see the damage. Mazzin said: “We have regular customers.

“We have customers who came from Grimsby because they heard about us, and that’s in a short time. Now we have regular customers that come and every day and we have a chat and everything.”

When Mazzin spoke to Hull Daily Mail, he had already reported two of the incidents to Humberside Police and was in the process of reporting the third. A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “We received two reports of criminal damage to a takeaway restaurant on Paragon Street in Hull in September and October.

“On Monday, 29 September 2025, a man reportedly entered the shop and caused damage inside the premises. We also received a report that two windows at the property were smashed sometime between 8pm on Monday, 20 October 2025 and 9.30am on Tuesday, 21 October 2025.
