City will hope the young striker can hit the goal trail at his former club
Scunthorpe United chief Andy Butler has hailed Hull City for sanctioning the exit of Under-21s striker Tyrell Sellars-Fleming in a bid to get the youngster regular football.
The City forward signed for the Iron earlier this week and came off the bench in the second half of Tuesday night’s defeat to Leeds United’s Under-21s in the National League Cup, but is primed for his league debut this weekend.
Sellars-Fleming played a prominent role in pre-season for City, and scored the winner in their final friendly on the trip to Turkey against Kasimpasa, but has not featured for the first team in the Championship under Sergej Jakirovic.
Keen to get the 20-year-old regular football at a good level, loan chief Andy Dawson brokered a deal to see Sellars-Fleming return to Glanford Park for at least the next month, two years on from his departure to the MKM Stadium.
“He gives us a bit of pace. I know what he’s going to bring. He’s going to bring energy and some quality. I’m really pleased,” Butler told BBC Radio Humberside ahead of Saturday’s National League meeting with Truro City in Lincolnshire.
“It’s always nice when you’ve got a club higher up the divisions who can help us. We’ve got a great relationship with Andy [Dawson] and Dave Beeby (club secretary) at Hull. Both have been amazing parts of Scunthorpe United, so hopefully we can keep that relationship strong.”
Meanwhile, City have confirmed that academy pair Noah Wadsworth and Zane Myers have both agreed one-year deals at the MKM Stadium, which will see them remain at the club until the end of the current season, with the club having the option of extending those contracts by a further 12 months.
Myers scored in the 4-2 defeat to Charlton Athletic on Tuesday afternoon, while Wadsworth was sent off in the closing stages for a rash challenge. Elsewhere, goalkeeper Callum Yam, who was an unused substitute against the Addicks, has had his one-year contract option exercised by City.
Twenty-year-old Myers has joined Scarborough Athletic on loan for the next month after agreeing that extension to his contract, and goes straight into Jonathan Greening’s squad to take on Oxford City in Bridlington on Saturday afternoon.
“Zane is an up-and-coming talent in Hull City’s Under-21s squad; he’s eager to get some experience and show what he can do,” Greening said. “He can play left wing, right wing or left back and will make a great addition to our squad”.
