Death Notices
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Alan Abey who died peacefully at home on 10th September 2026, aged 86. Alan was the son of the late Arthur and Isabella. The much loved brother of Averil and Karen, brother-in-law to Martin, a much loved uncle, great-uncle and friend to many, particularly within the cycling community. A direct, private cremation will take place on a future date.
My beautiful Al passed away on the 18th of September surrounded by his loving family. No words can say how much I will miss you. You was my life 43 years together a fantastic Dad to Terry, Ashley and Chloe my heart is breaking I will always love you and miss you. On 21st September 2026, peacefully in hospital, aged 91 years. Dearly loved wife of the late Revd John Nicholson (Jack) Charters, a much loved mum, nana and great-nana. Gerard Laden Died peacefully at Castle Hill Hospital on 15 September 2026. The adored father of Laura and Lydia, the beloved partner of Vania. The much loved brother of Ronald, Jaqueline, Miriam, Celeste, and Fiona. The founder of North of England Hyperbaric Services and MIMIR Engineering. Peacefully passed away on 13th September 2026 at Hull Royal Hospital, aged 70. Much loved Wife to Anthony, an amazing Mum to Gareth, Samantha and Stephen and loving devoted Grandma to Oliver, Jacob, Georgia and Evelyn. Colleen was the very heart of her whole family and was loved deeply by all of her family and friends. The memories we have of you will be treasured forever. You will be missed incredibly by all who love you. A service to celebrate Colleen’s life will be held at Chanterlands Crematorium Large Chapel, HU5 4EF, 13th October 11:30am.
