Willie Peters offered an honest verdict on Hull KR’s ‘demanding season’ after seeing his side dethroned from every title after a historic 2025 treble.

Hull KR’s Super League defence came to an end at the hands of Warrington Wolves in a 35-12 defeat at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, with the Robins forced to play the second half without Peta Hiku after he was sent off for striking George Williams just moments after the restart, with the score at 12-6.

Matty Ashton then completed his hat-trick to send Warrington into the semi-finals, where they will travel to Leeds Rhinos. League Leaders’ Shield winners Wigan Warriors will host Wakefield Trinity in the other last-four clash, with a place at Old Trafford on the line.

Peters reflected on a rollercoaster campaign which saw Hull KR crowned world champions in February, fall to a heavy defeat to Wigan at Wembley in the Challenge Cup Final and finish sixth in the play-offs, before their eliminator defeat to Warrington.

“When you look at our season and break it down, it was a very, very demanding season,” Peters said, having taken charge of his final Hull KR match.

“Up until Wembley, I thought we were in a really strong position. After the start we had, towards the bottom of the table, I think we found a way to get back to third position on the ladder and found ourselves in a final at Wembley.

“We played Wigan in the Challenge Cup final and it was a performance we weren’t proud of at all. Then we go to Wakefield the week after and put ourselves in a position to win, but lost that game at the end, near enough on the bell.

“There’s a lot of emotion attached to that, especially with everything we’ve done. It’s probably after that we just weren’t consistent.

“Discipline and certain parts of our game went away from being us, but as I said to the players in the dressing room, there’s a real identity about this team. It’s important they keep that.”
