A bridge has been lifted back into place after undergoing a full refurbishment.

The 73-year-old Weel Bridge, which carries traffic over the River Hull near Beverley, East Yorkshire, was taken to an engineering firm in South Yorkshire in April for the work.

The structure has been strengthened and has undergone structural repairs, had its footpath widened, and been given upgrades to its mechanical, electrical and bridge control systems.

Safety checks will be carried out over the next few weeks before the bridge is reopened, East Riding of Yorkshire Council said.
