The forward joins City on a five-year deal

Hull City have confirmed the signing of towering German striker Ilyas Ansah from Union Berlin on deadline day for an undisclosed fee.

Ansah joins the Tigers on a five-year deal and gives Sergej Jakirovic a much-needed option up front.

He becomes City’s 13th summer signing and he is expected to be the first of potentially five deals done today as the deadline approaches .

Ansah joins City after spending one season with Union in the Bundesliga, where he scored five goals in 37 appearances.

A Germany under-21 international of six caps, Ansah is highly rated on the continent and the Tigers see his signing as a coup for the club.

The 21-year-old started his career with Paderborn in Germany and the seven goals in scored for the club in the second division earned him the move to the capital last summer.

He represented Union in the German Cup earlier this month but he’s expected to be part of Jakirovic’s squad on Saturday for the visit of Aston Villa.

“I’m very excited. It’s a dream come true for me to play in the Premier League, and for such a big club – it’s really an honour for me,” he told the club after joining.

“I have heard a lot about the club, the players and the team, and I’m excited to play with the boys and to get to know them.

“It was an honour and a dream playing in the Bundesliga. Now, I have another dream to play in the Premier League, and I’m going to work hard for it.

“I’m a very flexible player. I can play almost anywhere up front – on the left side, on the right side, maybe as a 10. I’m definitely a player who always gives his best and leaves it all on the pitch.

“Taking my man on, beating players, shooting on target and scoring goals – that’s my main goal I want to reach at this club.
