The Tigers are set for a busy transfer deadline day

Transfer deadline day is here and to say Hull City are active at this point would be an understatement.
The Tigers are hoping to welcome a number of new signings to the club before tonight’s 11pm deadline to significantly boost Sergej Jakirovic’s squad ahead of Saturday’s clash with Aston Villa.
A number of players could leave, too, it seems, with City needing to name a 25-man squad later this week.
With that in mind, here’s a look at how a dream end to the window could go for City.
Wing reinforcements to arrive
The Tigers have made moves for a number of left wingers in recent weeks but they haven’t quite been successful in landing one just yet.
The likes of Jean Matteo-Bahoya and Malick Fofana have come and gone as potential targets and City are now thought to be trying to thrash out a deal for Sorba Thomas of Stoke City.
Whether that deal gets over the line remains to be seen, but one thing is for certain, City need quality on that left side and at least one winger certainly would not go amiss.
Liam Millar’s future looks set to hinge on how successful the club are in the transfer market, with Sergej Jakirovic outlining on Saturday that a couple of wing reinforcements could result in Millar moving on. He’s a fan favourite and City would be reluctant to sell, but the last thing the Canada international would want is to drop out of the 25-man squad.
Giles to stay
City fans made their feelings clear on Saturday regarding the suggestion that Ryan Giles could be set to leave the Tigers before the deadline. Reports emerged last week that a loan deal with Ryan Giles was in the offing and supporters reacted in unison with a show of support for the left-back at Coventry on Saturday.
Jakirovic was seemingly shocked by the reports too, and with Giles a current starter, the head coach rubbished the idea of him leaving when speaking after the game.
City have depth at left-back with Matt Targett and Elliot Stroud, but left-back is Giles’ to lose at present and City are keen to see him stick around.
Fringe players to find clubs
Jakirovic has consistently made reference to the 25-man squad that City must submit to the Premier League after the window has closed and right now, there is a very real possibility that some players could be de-registered if they can’t find clubs today.
The likes of David Akintola, Kieran Dowall, Abdus Omur and Matty Jacob are all on the outer and as City adding to their squad, something has to give.
The last thing anyone wants to see is someone sat on the sidelines until January at least with no hope of featuring, and City will be working hard to offload those fringe players either on loan or permanently.
