(Tony) In loving memory of Anthony “Tony” Barrett, the best Grandad and Great Grandad we could ever have asked for. Grandad always had time for us. When I was growing up, he took me to rugby training every week, watched every match and even became treasurer of my rugby club. He was always there, supporting me, and those are memories I will treasure forever. Some of my happiest childhood memories are of days spent with Grandad, from getting fish and chips at Hornsea to playing in the rivers at Dalby Forest. One of those stories that will always make us laugh was on a holiday in Devon. Grandad turned around to warn us, “Mind your head,” before immediately walking straight into the top of the door frame himself. That was Grandad. I’ll always treasure the memories we made together. Every year, you would buy me the Guinness World Records book, and the Dandy and Beano’s, over time it became our own little tradition. I’ll also never forget the time we spent collecting stamps and sitting together looking through them. My Grandad was funny, generous and had a way of making people laugh. One of his favourite sayings was, “You’ve gotta laugh,” and whenever it was time to leave, you could rely on hearing, “Thanks for coming.” One of our final happy memories together was earlier this year, when we went on a father’s day trip out and Blake sat on his Great Grandad’s lap all the way around The Deep. It’s a memory that we’ll always hold onto. We will miss his humour, his generosity, his familiar sayings and, most of all, simply having him there. The best Grandad and Great Grandad, who will be loved and missed more than words can say. Thank you for everything you did for me, Grandad. Thank you for every book, every stamp, every conversation, every laugh and every memory. Most of all, thank you for simply being you. You will always have a huge place in my heart and will forever be a part of my life. I will never forget you, and I’ll always be proud to call you my Grandad. Rest peacefully with all our love, Dean, Natalie, Poppy, Paul and Blake(7). And, as Grandad would say, “Thanks for coming.”

(Tony) Dad, you were ” simply the best” dad, grandad and great-grandad. You were my rock made of concrete. Love you forever and always. Lisa, Grandchildren Chris, Jon and Dean and 9 loving Great-grandchildren. XXX I was always listening THANKS FOR COMING!!

I sit alone in the darkness of despair and cry my silent tears, my heart is broken into a million pieces, then I look up and see your smiling face and feel your hand in mine, then I know you’re with me and have been all the time. Your heartbroken Wife, Your Aud (Your Dolly), Children and Grandchildren xxxxxxx
