Hull FC have confirmed another new signing.
Hull FC have signed Leigh Leopards forward Isaac Liu.
Isaac Liu has singled out incoming Hull FC head coach Steve McNamara as a driving factor behind his decision to sign for the club – with the experienced forward, at home at prop or loose-forward, putting pen to paper on a one-year deal.
The 35-year-old is the fourth new recruit confirmed by the club, adding to the signings of Bailey Hodgson, Alrix Da Costa, and Daly Cherry-Evans. More signings are expected to follow, with Hull set to complete a move for Australian centre Jordan Swann, as first reported by Hull Live last week.
Meanwhile, Liu, who played in the NRL for over a decade with Sydney Roosters and Gold Coast Titans, has over 350 career appearances to his name. He is a three time NRL winner with the Roosters, where he worked alongside McNamara back in 2013.
A former New Zealand international, Liu joined Super League side Leigh Leopards ahead of the 2025 season, ironically as John Asiata’s replacement, and has been a regular for the Leopards, only missing one game this year. He will add further experience and punch to the Hull pack next season, and help drive standards once again as the club look to put a tough year behind them.
“I’m massively excited for what’s ahead,” Liu said on his move to Hull FC. “Me and my family are looking forward to a new journey.
“Steve McNamara was a key driving factor behind joining the club. I know Steve well from when we worked together at the Roosters and we had some good conversations about how I can help get Hull FC back to where it needs to be.
“I’ve really enjoyed playing in England over the last couple of years. It’s different to Australia, but myself and the family have really embraced the culture and we’re looking forward to a new chapter over in Hull.
“Hopefully I can help inspire some of the young players by bringing my game and showing them how I operate. I hope I can help them take their own games to another level.”
CEO Richie Myler added: “Isaac is such an experienced player with great leadership qualities and he will be a really important addition both on and off the field for us in 2027.
“He is a player who holds himself to a very high standard and he expects everyone in the squad to uphold those standards on their part – I think that is going to be a really important asset for us.
“Steve knows him well from the time they spent together at the Roosters. He’s got a bit of versatility about him in terms of where he can play in the forward pack, so when the opportunity arose to bring Isaac to Hull for a year, it was one that we worked hard to get over the line.”
