The ongoing and upcoming works around the city

Drivers across Hull are being advised to plan ahead and allow extra travel time over the coming weeks as Hull City Council and local utility providers carry out a wave of roadworks and improvement schemes.

The latest update highlight a combination of highway enhancements, essential utility repairs, major infrastructure investments, and emergency water main work. Key projects include the ongoing roundabout improvements at Ennerdale and Wawne Road, alongside a major road closure on George Street to connect pipework for the Hull District Heat Network.

The following scheduled works are currently active or commencing soon across Hull:

  • Acorn Grove: August 19, 2026 – August 26, 2026 — Road closure in place outside number 33 for Northern Powergrid utility works.
  • Anlaby Road: July 31, 2026 – August 21, 2026 — Repairs to a burst water main by Yorkshire Water. Includes a road closure from August 17, 2026 (6am) to August 18, 2026 (6am), with lane closures at all other times.
  • Anlaby Road: August 25, 2026 – August 26, 2026 — Lane closure opposite Steam Tavern for Yorkshire Water frame cover repairs.
  • Argyle Street: August 24, 2026 – August 27, 2026 — Two-way signals in place for Network Rail site investigation works and bridge surveys.
  • Auckland Avenue: July 20, 2026 – August 21, 2026 — Multi-way signals active for Northern Powergrid utility works.
  • Carden Avenue: August 6, 2026 – August 26, 2026 — Multi-way traffic signals near number 17 for Northern Powergrid works.
  • Chanterlands Avenue: August 3, 2026 – August 31, 2026 — Multi-way signals at the Murrayfield Road junction for Northern Powergrid works.
