Roadworks around Hull including closures and temporary lights

The ongoing and upcoming works around the city

Drivers across Hull are being advised to plan ahead and allow extra travel time over the coming weeks as Hull City Council and local utility providers carry out a wave of roadworks and improvement schemes.

The latest update highlight a combination of highway enhancements, essential utility repairs, major infrastructure investments, and emergency water main work. Key projects include the ongoing roundabout improvements at Ennerdale and Wawne Road, alongside a major road closure on George Street to connect pipework for the Hull District Heat Network.

The following scheduled works are currently active or commencing soon across Hull:

• Acorn Grove: August 19, 2026 – August 26, 2026 — Road closure in place outside number 33 for Northern Powergrid utility works.
• Anlaby Road: July 31, 2026 – August 21, 2026 — Repairs to a burst water main by Yorkshire Water. Includes a road closure from August 17, 2026 (6am) to August 18, 2026 (6am), with lane closures at all other times.
• Anlaby Road: August 25, 2026 – August 26, 2026 — Lane closure opposite Steam Tavern for Yorkshire Water frame cover repairs.
• Argyle Street: August 24, 2026 – August 27, 2026 — Two-way signals in place for Network Rail site investigation works and bridge surveys.
• Auckland Avenue: July 20, 2026 – August 21, 2026 — Multi-way signals active for Northern Powergrid utility works.
• Carden Avenue: August 6, 2026 – August 26, 2026 — Multi-way traffic signals near number 17 for Northern Powergrid works.
• Chanterlands Avenue: August 3, 2026 – August 31, 2026 — Multi-way signals at the Murrayfield Road junction for Northern Powergrid works.
• Chanterlands Avenue: August 12, 2026 – August 19, 2026 — Narrow lane system at the Spring Bank junction for Yorkshire Water utility works.
• Coronation Road North: August 17, 2026 – August 26, 2026 — Multi-way signals in place for permanent reinstatement work by Yorkshire Water.
• Dunston Road: August 5, 2026 – August 18, 2026 — Full road closure near number 981 for Yorkshire Water burst main repairs.
• Ellerburn Avenue: August 25, 2026 — Multi-way signals at the 38th Avenue junction for major sewer desilting by Yorkshire Water.
• Ennerdale: March 2, 2026 – October 29, 2026 — Ongoing lane closures for Hull City Council roundabout improvement works.
• Falkland Road: May 11, 2026 – September 17, 2026 — Phased road closures for Hull City Council carriageway resurfacing.
• George Street: August 17, 2026 – September 6, 2026 — Full road closure between Wilberforce Drive and Freetown Way for Vital Energi heat network installation.
• Inglemire Lane: July 20, 2026 – August 21, 2026 — Multi-way signals in place for Northern Powergrid utility works.
• Holderness Road: August 17, 2026 – August 26, 2026 — Lane closure beside number 800 for Yorkshire Water permanent reinstatement.
• Littondale: August 12, 2026 – August 18, 2026 — Multi-way signals for Yorkshire Water burst water main repairs.
• Marfleet Lane: July 23, 2026 – August 29, 2026 — Two-way signals from number 702 to 732 for Northern Powergrid works.
• Meadowbank Road: August 10, 2026 – September 9, 2026 — Road closure near the Morris Road junction for Hull City Council traffic calming installation.
• New Bridge Road: August 20, 2026 — Two-way traffic signals for Network Rail tree cutting.
• Noddle Hill Way: August 12, 2026 – August 19, 2026 — Two-way signals for Yorkshire Water burst water main repairs.

• Walker Street: August 7, 2026 – August 21, 2026 — Road closure near number 1 for Yorkshire Water burst main repairs.
• Wawne Road Roundabout: May 8, 2026 – October 2, 2026 — Council roundabout improvement scheme connecting Bude Road, Wawne Road, and Holwell Road; road closure in place.
• Wawne Road: August 13, 2026 – August 26, 2026 — Multi-way signals from 19 Wawne Road to the Noddle Hill Way junction for BT telecom works.
