Hull City have completed the signing of Australian defender Lucas Herrington from Colorado Rapids in another big-money deal ahead of their Premier League campaign kicking off next weekend.
Herrington arrives from the MLS, and on the back of an impressive performance at the World Cup with Australia. City beat off a host of competition for his signature and are thought to have paid in the region of £13m to secure the player.
The 18-year-old has signed a five-year contract at the MKM Stadium, and it is expected that he will get his first run-out for City when they face French Ligue 1 side Nice on Saturday afternoon in their final outing of pre-season.

Rated highly, Herrington only joined the MLS club back in January when he arrived from Brisbane Roar, and rose to stardom when he appeared in the World Cup as the Aussies’ youngest-ever player to start a game, though unfortunately he missed a penalty in their shoot-out defeat to Egypt as the Socceroos exited at the Round of 32 stage.
After catching the eye playing for the Rapids, Herrington was named in the MLS All-Stars side that beat the Liga MX All-Stars 4-3 last month, with him starting the contest at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
Herrington arrives alongside Senegal defender Nobel Mendy, whose £20m move from Spanish La Liga side Rayo Vallecano has also been sealed in time for the weekend.
Joe Gelhardt’s move from Leeds United is also set to be confirmed, and so, too, is Lucas Gourna-Douath, who will arrive from RB Salzburg in Austria.
City have made an approach for Netherlands midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, but it’s understood a deal for the Juventus man looks unlikely at this stage owing to the valuation placed on him by the Old Lady.
