A woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a collision on the Humber Bridge this morning.
As a result of the incident, motorists faced long delays on the northbound carriageway with drivers urged to avoid the area.
Queues were reportedly going back several miles on the A15 in North Lincolnshire as traffic was held at a standstill. A lane reopened later in the morning but heavy traffic continued.
Both lanes were reopened by 1pm this afternoon, however, drivers still said there were traffic delays. Following the incident, Humberside Police confirmed a woman had been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “Officers were called to reports of a five-vehicle road traffic collision on the Northbound carriageway on the Humber Bridge this morning at around 7.00am (Monday, 7 June).
“Both lanes were closed to allow recovery of the vehicles and allow emergency services to work safely. One woman was taken to hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries which are not considered life changing.
“Both lanes have now since been re-opened.
“If anyone has any further information, dash cam or CCTV footage from the area at the time, please contact our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 66 of 7 July.”
