It has been another busy few weeks in the courts and plenty of serious cases have been heard, with some particularly long prison sentences being handed out.

The lengthy prison terms include sentences of 18 years, 16 years and 11 years being imposed on a series of sex offenders. A depressing collection of violent domestic abuse cases were also heard, with scenes of vicious brutality making for grim listening.

Other cases heard include a teenage tearaway who finally ran out of luck, a nightmare neighbour who made false allegations, a drug dealer who pretended that stashes of cash found by the police were from selling puppies for £2,000 each and yet another rioter who was caught after the day of serious public disorder in Hull city centre in August.

These are some of the eye-opening court cases that were featured during June.
