City remain unbeaten at the start of pre-season

Oli McBurnie’s second goal in as many pre-season games saw Hull City come back to earn a 1-1 friendly draw with Turkish Super Lig side Kasimpasa in Istanbul.
Exactly three weeks until the Tigers kick off their Premier League campaign against Manchester United at the MKM Stadium, City took another step towards that huge opener with a result which leaves them unbeaten after three games this summer.
In an eventful first half at the Recep Tayyip Erdogan Stadium, Matt Crooks went close while McBurnie couldn’t quite get on the end of Ryan Giles’ teasing cross, before he was thwarted from close range. Liam Millar was a real threat off the left, but he blazed his effort over the bar when he cut inside and shot from the edge of the box.
At the other end, Jack Butland made a fine save to deny Adrian Benedyczak when he was left alone outside the box in a half that ended goalless.
That changed quickly at the start of the second half when the hosts scored through Armer Ben Ouanes’ crisp volley, but they weren’t in front for long. Abdus did well to win the ball on the edge of the box, Millar then scooped it back to him, and the Turkish playmaker found McBurnie to power in the leveller.
Dave Akintola, playing at right-back, was cautioned for a nothing challenge, which irked Sergej Jakirovic. Unsurprisingly, given a horrible challenge on Ryan Giles in the first half, went unpunished.
Rueben Silk joined Akintola in the referee’s notebook late on, though bizarrely, none of the home players were afforded such pleasantries, as the game fizzled out in the final half-hour.
