Robert Bush was arrested at his home in July 2024
A disbelieving Robert Bush held his head in his hands and told police, “It’s like I’m Che Guevara or something”, when they came to arrest him for a second time. The disgraced director of Legacy Independent Funeral Directors had previously been arrested on an American Airlines flight as it landed at London’s Heathrow on March 10, 2024.
Police bodycam footage of that arrest was released after Bush’s submission of all guilty pleas at Hull Crown Court in April of this year. A video of his second arrest, at home, on July 3 of that same year, was captured by Humberside Police bodycam.
This has now also been released as Bush faces sentencing at the court after a days-long hearing. In the recording, taken just after 8am, Bush answers the door wearing his dressing gown and there is a dog barking in the background as he is cautioned.
He looks aghast, clasps his hands together and then covers his face. Bush says: “I don’t understand it. I’ve been arrested off a plane at gunpoint, I’ve been taken, you know… it’s like I’m Che Guevara or something.
“I’m not that complicated; I’ve said it so many times, let me help you; I’ll come in and talk to you, four months ago.
“I know I’m not good at accounting, my handwriting’s bad. I’m sure there’s times you’ve looked at things and thought, I don’t know what that means, but not once have I had a question since I’ve been released.”
Bush says he feels it is “vindictive, the whole way it has been done”. The footage then shows him dressed and sitting at the bottom of his stairs, again with his head in his hands and then with his head bowed.
He says to the officers: “Just let me know if I can help … sort it out … it’s not that complicated. I’ve been compliant from the off.”
He is then seen following the officers outside to a waiting police car.
