Hull City ended their pre-season training camp in Slovenia with a second consecutive victory.
Two goals in two second-half minutes from Oli McBurnie and Kieran Dowell put the Tigers 2-0 up, before a late consolation from the Super Lig side threatened a grandstand finish at Maribor’s Ljudski Vrt Stadium.
City should have been a goal down inside five minutes when Mebude skinned Ryan Giles down the right flank, before crossing for the unmarked Laci in the middle of the box, but thankfully for the Tigers, he got his feet in a mess and the chance came and went, before Butland made a smart save to deny Sowe from close range.
In a stop-start first half, John Egan, Abu Kamara and Lewie Coyle all needed treatment, with the skipper forced off in added time at the end of it, being replaced by Cody Drameh.
The Tigers needed Jack Butland to make a couple of smart saves at the start of the second half, and then, just before two goals in two minutes turned the game on its head. Kieran Dowell lifted in a cross for McBurnie to power in a header off the bar, before Omur played in Dowell to slot home his effort off the post.
City conceded for the first time since the final day of last season, when Emrecan Bulut angled a fine header across Butland from a corner with just over 15 minutes left.
