Mourgue started in the halves against Hull FC on Thursday night

Arthur Mourgue will keep his spot in the halves when Hull KR take on Bradford Bulls next weekend, Willie Peters has confirmed.
With Mikey Lewis suspended for four games, Peters opted to go with Arthur Mourgue at six for the Hull derby at the MKM Stadium on Thursday night, shifting the Frenchman from his usual full-back spot into the line.
It was a decision that caught some by surprise and Mourgue visibly struggled in the role during the opening 20 minutes of the contest as FC put pressure on him and forced a number of mistakes.
Mourgue made an adjustment to his game though, and it wasn’t long before he started to have more of a say in the good things KR managed to do. He scored the club’s second try just before the break and he grew and grew into the game as the second half wore on.
As such, Peters was happy with the way Mourgue responded to his poor start and after the game, he confirmed that the former Catalans Dragons man will keep his spot at stand-off for another week.
“I thought he looked better as the game went on,” Peters told the press. “I thought at the start he looked a little bit nervous and tried to rush things too much. He needed a bit more patience.
“He’s at his best when he runs the football but he was looking for that quick fix a little too much.
“He found his groove and Jack Broadbent was great, he ran a lot of metres. We weren’t perfect with the ball but we still managed to score a number of points.
“We’ll stick with it for the next game and we’ll see where we’re at. I thought there was enough there to show that combination to improve. We had a slow start and we tried to rush things a little bit but it will certainly be there next game.”
