Tonight will be Willie Peters’ last Hull derby as head coach of the Robins

Hull KR boss Willie Peters believes the Robins are playing Hull FC at the perfect time as they bid to get their season back on track.
Rovers have seen the defence of their League Leaders’ Shield fade away in recent weeks with three defeats in the last four and following Saturday’s loss at Warrington Wolves, they now sit outside of the play-off picture.
It’s fair to say that KR have lost their way then, but Peters believes the derby and the emotional and physical manner of it, will bring the best out of his side.
They’ve won the last eight Hull derbies, with the latest being earlier this month at Magic Weekend and the head coach believes his side will rise to the occasion and remind themselves of what they are capable of going into the final few weeks of the campaign.
“Whenever you play a derby it’s always tough and physical,” Peters said. “They’re not the best spectacle in terms of being free-flowing but they’re special to be a part of and personally this is going to be my last derby which I’ve absolutely loved being a part of them and it’s something I’ll miss.
“I think it’s probably the perfect time for us to get this game because it will bring out the best in us, I believe. It means so much to so many different people and we’ve got an opportunity to put some smiles on people’s faces who love this club dearly.
“They’re probably scratching their heads at the moment about why we’re performing the way we are and rightly so.
“The biggest thing I’ve always said our players is our best and worst can’t be too far away.
“At the moment it is and we need to have a look about us that every KR fan knows what they’re going to get each week. Tomorrow probably is the perfect game for us to get back on track and I’m talking performance. We want to win the game of course but I think it’s important that we perform well.”
