Hull FC have re-signed former loan player Max Wood, with the Warrington Wolves prop agreeing a one-month loan with the club.
Wood featured twice for the Black and Whites on loan against Huddersfield Giants and Wakefield Trinity earlier this year, and will be available for selection for Thursday’s derby match against Hull KR at the MKM Stadium.
The 22-year-old was recalled by Warrington after the Wakefield game last month and went straight into the Wire side the following week. He featured in games against Catalans Dragons, Leigh Leopards, and Wigan Warriors. However, he wasn’t selected by Sam Burgess in last week’s win over the Robins and now joins the Black and Whites for the next month.
A club statement read: “Hull FC can confirm that Max Wood has re-joined the club on loan. The forward returns to the club from Warrington Wolves on a one-month loan, following his spell with the Black & Whites earlier in the season. Wood will be available for selection for Thursday’s Betfred Super League Round 20 clash against Hull KR.”
Wood’s arrival is most opportune given an injury blow to Yusuf Aydin in Saturday’s defeat to Leigh. The forward suffered a category one head knock and was automatically ruled out of the derby. It’s hoped that Aydin will pass his return-to-play protocols in order to feature at Huddersfield Giants next week.
Meanwhile, Hull go into the derby clash having won just two of their last 13 Super League games. Their last victory over Rovers came over three years ago back in July 2023.
