Hull FC will be without Yusuf Aydin for Thursday’s derby match against Hull KR at the MKM Stadium, interim head coach Andy Last has confirmed.
The forward suffered a Category One head knock in Saturday’s 32-22 Super League defeat to Leigh Leopards and now per the sport’s concussion protocols, will automatically be stood down and therefore miss the third and final derby game of the season.
Aydin will now have to pass his return to play protocols in order to feature at Huddersfield Giants at the end of the month, with the 25-year-old only returning to action at York Knights last week following a six-game suspension after his red card at Bradford Bulls back in May.
“He’s not good, it’s Category One,” Last told Hull Live after the game. “He won’t be playing against Hull KR. Hopefully he should be okay for the Huddersfield game.”
Elsewhere, Last is counting on winger Lewis Martin being fit and available for the derby clash. The 22-year-old failed his HIA against York but only has his final return to play protocols to pass in order to return.
“Lewis Martin should be available, so it’s one coming in and one goes out,” Last added. “Whichever team we put out there on Thursday night will give the best of what they’re capable and give Hull KR a really good game.”
Hull last defeated Hull KR in July 2023. They have lost the last seven derby meetings, with Rovers tasting success at the Magic Weekend and on Good Friday.
