Hull City are closing on signing a new goalkeeper, but it won’t be Stoke City’s Swedish ace Viktor Johansson, despite reports in his homeland.
Johansson has previously been on City‘s radar and was considered when he left Rotherham United and ended up making the move to the Potteries.
City are keen to add to all positions across the pitch, and strengthening their goalkeeping unit remains a top priority.
Ivor Pandur is the club’s number one, with Dillon Phillips and Harvey Cartwright part of the group, but Croatian Pandur has interest from elsewhere.
Tigers sporting director Jared Dublin had been involved in initial discussions when he was in post at Stoke, though he had moved on by the time the deal had been completed.
The 27-year-old stopper only penned a new deal at the bet365 Stadium at the end of last season, committing his future to the Potters for another four years.
Reports emerged in Sweden earlier this week that City and a host of other clubs were lining up a move for Johansson; however, Hull Live understands a move for him is extremely unlikely at this stage.
City have been linked with a host of goalkeepers in recent weeks, including Newcastle United star Nick Pope, Aaron Ramsdale, and Besiktas’ gloveman Ersin Destanoğlu. The latter is likely to leave Besiktas and has held tentative talks with the newly-promoted Tigers over a move to the MKM Stadium.

Reports in Turkey have also suggested the Tigers have agreed a free transfer deal for the 25-year-old, but again, it’s believed those are wide of the mark at this stage.
Manchester United’s Radek Vitek, who impressed during a loan spell at Bristol City in the Championship last season, is another who has been looked at, though that’s unlikely.
Meanwhile, the Tigers continue to work on moving players out of the club in a bid to avoid falling foul of Financial Fair Play (FFP), and there could well be movement in the next 24 to 48 hours.
