Actions will speak louder than words for head coach Willie Peters as his Hull KR side attempt to avenge their Las Vegas embarrassment against Leeds tonight in Super League.
Brad Arthur’s Rhinos produced a demolition job in Sin City against the reigning Super League champions back in March, running in 10 tries at Allegiant Stadium for a 58-6 victory, including four for Maika Sivo in a dominant display.
It will be the first meeting between the two sides since that encounter, with Peters calling for a response from his players.
He said: “It’s not so much talking around what we did in Vegas now, I like to see action.
“I’ll get a good idea of how embarrassed we were (by what happened in Vegas) by their actions on Friday night.
“That’s the best way to put it. I can sit here and talk as much as I want, I’m not out there playing.
“The players are the ones that dictate the result, they’re the ones who go out there, they work extremely hard for each other and we’ve had a lot of success over the last few years.
“But that was a day to forget and the only way to get over things like that is through actions.”
Leeds head into the contest at the top of the Super League table, having lost just three games all season under Arthur, who recently committed his future at Headingley until the end of 2028.
Peters was full of praise for the Rhinos, believing they have “got their DNA back” following an impressive first half of the campaign.
Leeds last won the Super League Grand Final in 2017 and have returned to Old Trafford only once since. However, the progress made under former Parramatta Eels boss Arthur has been clear to see.
“There’s no doubt they’ve improved a hell of a lot under Brad in terms of their style,” Peters said of Leeds.
“They’ve got their DNA back, Leeds.
“That’s what Leeds have been about, they understand who they are and what they’re about as a team.
“Full credit to Brad for what he’s done and is doing with that club and the team.
“We’ve had some close games. We were in control here (against Leeds at Craven Park last July) and had a change of momentum when Mikey (Lewis) went off, but then last time we played them (in Las Vegas) was obviously not acceptable at all.”
The Robins, meanwhile, sit third on the ladder and could be without England international hooker Jez Litten and starting prop Sauaso Sue, with late fitness calls set to be made on both players. Sam Luckley has been ruled out due to a hamstring issue.
