Hull FC have signed young Warrington Wolves prop Max Wood on loan for the next month.
The 21-year-old, who turns 22 later this month, came through the youth ranks at Wigan Warriors before signing for Sam Burgess’ outfit ahead of the 2024 season. He will now go straight into Andy Last’s squad for Saturday’s Super League home game against Huddersfield Giants.
Wood has played four times for Warrington this year and in total, has made 31 appearances for the Wire. He has also featured for Oldham this year and has had previous loan spells at Midlands Hurricanes, Widnes Vikings, and Bradford Bulls.
Meanwhile, the Black and Whites have also retained Leeds Rhinos loan pair Jeremiah Mata’utia and Ethan O’Neill for the next month. The duo have been on loan for the last few weeks, signing on one month loans which ran out last week.
However, the club have sought an extension over the weekend, with Leeds’ squad currently in good nick. A recall option, should the Rhinos need it, stands.
A club statement read: “Hull FC are pleased to announce that Max Wood has joined the club on loan. The prop has joined the club from Warrington Wolves on a month-long loan.
“Wood will be available for selection for Saturday’s Betfred Super League Round 14 clash against Huddersfield Giants at the MKM Stadium. The 21-year old will bolster Andy Last’s options in the pack over the next four weeks, with the Airlie Birds set for a trio of home fixtures in West Hull before Magic Weekend.
“The club can also confirm that loanees Jeremiah Mata’utia and Ethan O’Neill will remain with the club for another month.”
