With their distinctive red jackets, it is impossible not to spot a Hull Street Angel on a night out in the city centre on a Friday or Saturday.
The volunteers give up their time to provide help and support to those in need between 21:00 and 03:00, and work closely with other organisations, venue staff, emergency services and Hull City Council.
Kathryn Shillito said: “Our main aim is to support people, whether that’s ladies who need a pair of flip-flops or it can be supplying water, people who are ill. They are well trained and well used to supporting people.”
As part of Make A Difference Day, the BBC is shining a light on volunteers who go above and beyond in their community.
BBC Radio Humberside presenter Carla Green spent an evening on patrol in the city centre with the angels, to see for herself the difference they are making.
