
The Combined Authority is entering its second full financial year
The Hull and East Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Executive Board has met for the first time following May’s local elections. The board, headed by Mayor Luke Campbell, met in Hessle where members looked ahead to what is expected to be a big year for the authority.
The Mayor used his opening words to congratulate all Hull City Councillors who were elected on May 7. He wished luck to both pre-existing and new ward councillors across the city.
During the meeting, the authority’s five portfolio holder positions were re-confirmed for the coming year. Each of the five voting members of the Executive Board have portfolio positions. They are as follows:
- Mayor Luke Campbell: Mayoral portfolio & Fit and Health portfolio
- Cllr Anne Handley: Investment portfolio
- Cllr Mike Ross: Skills portfolio
- Cllr David Tucker: Transport portfolio
- Cllr Jackie Dad: Housing portfolio

Cllrs Handley, Tucker, and Dad each gave a brief update on progress in their portfolio areas. Cllr Ross was unable to attend the meeting.
Cllr Handley spoke of productive discussions at both MIPIM and UKREiiF. “We have had some fantastic opportunities and they are starting to come to fruition,” the leader of East Riding Council said.
Cllr Tucker, Cllr Handley’s deputy in County Hall, explained the authority has recently appointed a new transport lead, who is coming from Transport for London. He also explained that from next year, the authority will take on the delivery of transport services from the local councils.
Cllr Dad said the focus for housing in the first year had been establishing a pipeline and holding discussions with Homes England. The Hull City Council deputy leader told the board she is hoping to organise some site visits soon.
