Hull FC are hoping to have players back for their next game.

Depleted Hull FC will have a recharge and reset period before returning to training at the back end of next week.

The Black and Whites are next in action at Warrington Wolves on Friday 5 June, with the side planning their way through the last Super League break of the season as the Challenge Cup final takes place on Saturday 30 May.

Set for a few days off after completion of their Leigh recovery, Hull’s fit players have been given home programmes to do while those in rehab or in need of training as they close in on their returns will be reporting to the club. The full side will then report back to training on Thursday 28, with interim head coach Andy Last hoping to have a few players available again.

Producing a spirited account given the circumstances, Hull were beaten 42-6 at Leigh Leopards on Friday night, with no fewer than 15 players out of action to injury or suspension.

Outlining the next few days, Last said: “I’m hoping we get some back. I’m hoping this week off gives the guys who need a little bit of a break away, a little bit of time away, to freshen themselves up, and then there’ll be some other guys; they’ll have their home programmes to attack.

“Each player has got individual programmes that they will attack during this period and then we’re back into work on Thursday and Friday of next week. And then it’s a big game against Warrington. We’ll need to perform better than we did tonight to be challenging against Warrington.”

However, while some players, like Amir Bourouh, and perhaps even James Bell, will be looking at quick returns. The reality is some won’t be seen for a number of weeks yet, maybe even months.

“We were looking at the timescale of when they’re all back,” Last said. “If we’re still in and around it come August time, we could have a really good team, but that seems a long, long time away.

“We’ve just got to try and take it game by game, assess what squad and what players we’ve got available, and put what we think is the best team for each week that comes.

“It’s a challenge, but it’s one that I’m going to embrace. I love the club, and I love leading the group of lads who we’ve got in there.

“And if they play with the sort of endeavour and heart that they’ve just done then, we’re going to cause some team some problems. If we add a little bit more quality to it, then I’d like to think, with all that effort, we can turn effort into wins.”
