You could say both Hull City and Millwall were the surprise packages of another absorbing Championship season. Few would have fancied them to do quite as well as they have, especially City, but here they are. The first leg of the play-off semi-final awaits.
For City, it’s the first time in a decade that they’ve been involved in the Championship play-offs, and a huge achievement given where they were at the beginning of the campaign. The Tigers under Sergej Jakirovic are confident and ready for what lies ahead this evening, and indeed, on Monday in South London.
The fact that the Tigers are even contesting this semi-final shows what a terrific job Jakirovic, his staff and the players have done over the previous 46 games, but they’re not here to just make up the numbers in front of another sold-out crowd.
