Hull KR will be without Oliver Gildart this weekend when they travel to Bradford Bulls
Hull KR boss Willie Peters is confident that Oliver Gildart’s injury lay-off will be a short one.
Gildart sustained an ankle injury last weekend during the Robins’ one-sided victory over Toulouse Olympique and had to be withdrawn from the action.
Peters admitted at the time that the 29-year-old would be a doubt for this week’s game and he has now been left out of the 21-man squad which will travel to Odsal to take on Bradford Bulls on Saturday.
The Rovers head coach admits he isn’t sure exactly how long Gildart will be sidelined for at this stage but he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of him featuring against Castleford Tigers next week.
“It’s nothing major,” Peters said when asked about the former Wigan Warriors man. “We just have to play it by ear and see how he goes next week.
“We’re not exactly sure how long he will be out for but at this stage, it will only be a short amount of time.”
He continued: “We have a couple of options there. We moved Rhyse Martin there last week, James Batchelor has played there, Karl Lawton can play there, Noah Booth can play there. There are some options that we can run with.”
Lawton missed the trip to Toulouse with an ankle issue of his own, but Peters has confirmed that he is ready for the clash with the Bulls.
“He’s available, we’ll just see towards the back end of the week who we finalise for the team,” Peters added.
Rovers have been linked with a move for former Catalans Dragons man Tevita Pangai Jr this week, with reports claiming the prop could be set to make the switch to east Hull immediately.
Asked about the link, Peters said: “We’ve got no information to share at the moment.
“The only thing I’ll say is recruitment is ongoing and the reason for that is players want to play all the time, so there’s times when players want to leave and there’s time when the club want to bring people in as well. We can’t share anything at the moment but when we have information to share we will.”
