City once again threw away a lead to make it five games without a win
Two more points were dropped by Hull City, who salvaged a 2-2 draw at Leicester City, which relegated the Foxes.
City hit the front when Liam Millar pounced on a poor backpass from Asmir Begovic to fire in the far corner, and they should have added further to their tally but saw chances come and go.
Two goals in two minutes dragged Leicester in front through Jordan James’ penalty and Luke Thomas’ striker, before Oli McBurnie thumped in the equaliser just after the hour.
Sergej Jakirovic was sent off, as both sides had chances to win the game, but the Tigers were forced to settle for a point, which saw them drop out of the top six as Wrexham went ahead of them on goal difference.

Here’s how Tigers reporter Barry Cooper rated the players at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night…
Ivor Pandur: Didn’t have a huge amount to do in the first period, but did what he needed to do well after a nervy opening with Ajayi. Beaten twice at the start of the second half. Guessed right for the penalty. Crucial save in the final minutes. 7/10
Ryan Giles: Booked on his return to the starting line-up after dragging down Fatawu amid a dangerous break from the hosts. Caught out for the equaliser, but an important return. 6/10
Semi Ajayi: Relatively solid in the first period, aside from a couple of hairy moments, including one in the first couple of minutes between him and Pandur that allowed Daka in. Stunning tackle in stoppage time. 7.5/10
John Egan: Used his experience alongside Ajayi to good effect, aside from the one moment in the first half when Daka really should have scored. Tough moment for the goal, but it lacked support. Huge chance to win it in stoppage time. 7/10
Lewie Coyle: Against De Cordova-Reid in the first half, stood up to him well and tried to get up in support of Belloumi. Stuck at it in the second half, as his side threatened to go under but battled back well. 6/10
Matt Crooks: Should have done better when Gelhardt teed him up outside the box. Had a great chance to make it 2-0, but his flick was well saved. Could have won it himself late on. 6/10
John Lundstram: Shot well wide early on from the edge of the box. Still looks way short of his best. 6/10
Liam Millar: Scored the opener with a well-taken finish after Begovic’s poor kickout. Could have scored again, but blazed over after cutting in well. Set up the equaliser and was a real threat. 7/10
Joe Gelhardt: Hit the side-netting with an effort after City had gone in front. Kept at it, but couldn’t get on the ball enough in the second half.6/10
Mo Belloumi: A constant threat, and gave Luke Thomas all sorts of problems, and was booked early for pulling the Algerian back. Went off at the break with another injury. 6/10
Oli McBurnie: Ran his socks off up the top, as you’d expect. Came close to scoring but was cleared off his head. Brilliant goal to drag his side level. 8/10
Subs:
Lewis Koumas (for Bellolumi 46): Nightmare start. Gave away the penalty, which kick-started the collapse. Makes some really rash decisions defensively. 5/10
Regan Slater (for Millar 72): Returned after a four-game absence because of an ankle injury, and like Giles, was vital to get him back. 6/10
Yu Hirakawa (for Millar 72): Made a difference when he came on, looked a threat off both sides. 6/10
Kyle Joseph (for Gelhardt 82): Could not get into the game at all, which was a real shame for him, and City. 5/10
