The Tigers face the Blues looking to complete the league double
Jack Robinson admits Birmingham City have failed to meet expectations this season, as their campaign heads towards it’s conclusion next month.
The Blues travel to Hull City on Saturday knowing they will not be involved in the promotion race, after what they feel has been a disappointing first season back in the Championship.
After romping to the League One title last term expectations were high at St Andrew’s following another summer of investment from the Knighthead Group.
While they may have consolidated back in the second-tier, many expected Blues to challenge for promotion and in truth, that has never looked realistic.

For their part, the Tigers know victory would see them take a giant step towards ensuring they secure a place in the end of season play-offs for a place in the top flight.
Robinson was sent off in the reverse fixture earlier in the season for two yellow cards in quick succession, with Sergej Jakirovic’s men winning a fiery encounter 3-2.
“We put the effort in all the time, but we just can’t quite put our finger on what the issue is this year,” the ex-Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United defender told the club’s programme.
“Saying that, I think it’s a season that everybody will be better for having, especially boys who are new to this division. I think we will see that when we’re back in August.
“The fans have come out in big numbers to games, home and away, and they have given us great backing. But there are times when we’ve definitely been told that it isn’t going right this season for sure. It’s part and parcel of it.
“Sometimes it’s not nice to hear, but I get it. I get frustrations, I’m a fan myself, a Liverpool fan – they frustrate the life out of me sometimes, especially this season!
“We all wanted to kick on again, but it just hasn’t been that way this year. We haven’t found enough consistency. We’re working on it all the time, we’re reassessing at all times what we need to improve on. There are still a few games left. It’s all about playing well towards the end of the season now, finishing on a good note, then regrouping in the summer.
“I understand the frustrations of the fans. They obviously want to go straight to the Premier League, especially with all the investment. But sometimes it does take time, especially in the Championship, because it’s so demanding, so unforgiving. It does take time to adjust to this league and it can be frustrating for both players and fans.”
