Kasey Palmer is currently on loan with League One Luton Town and is doing well

Hull City exile Kasey Palmer is open to a return to Luton Town in the summer having excelled on loan with the Hatters since January.

The 29-year-old moved to Kenilworth Road for the remainder of the season having previously fallen out of favour with Sergej Jakirovic.

That was in October when the Tigers boss opted to go to Bramall Lane with an unfilled bench rather than call-up Palmer who he said ‘was not ready’ – despite having started at Preston in the previous game.

Palmer didn’t feature for nearly three months due to injury, before getting a couple of run-outs as a substitute over the busy Christmas period. He appeared against Stoke City on New Year’s Day then three weeks later was loaned to the League One outfit.

Palmer’s fortunes have taken an upturn since then and he has started 13 of the 15 league games for which he has been available and scored four goals in his last six appearances.

That has led to speculation he might want to leave the MKM Stadium in the summer and move permanently to Luton – the complication being the level at which Jack Wilshere’s men are currently playing.

The former Chelsea trainee has played virtually his entire career in the Championship – and with Luton sitting tenth, three points outside the top six, any move could be contingent on promotion.

“To be fair there’s been no actual concrete conversations with the club about next season. It depends what happens at Hull, what Hull want to do, what they want to do here, where we are, what we do, I don’t know,” Palmer told Luton Today.

“Hopefully it can kind of find a solution and I can come back here next season, but to be honest I don’t know, there’s no actual concrete answer. For sure, I’m enjoying the players, being in the dressing room, coming in every day, it’s a perfect fit I think.

“If it can continue next season then I wouldn’t be against it, but we’ll have to see what happens in the summer. I’m enjoying being here, enjoying the team, enjoying the staff, the fans, it’s just been perfect so far.

“The aim was to get in the play-offs when I signed, if we fall short I’ll be disappointed, but we’ve just got to keep going.”

As things stand Palmer has one year left on the Tigers deal he signed when he joined from Coventry in the summer of 2024.
