Two men have been arrested after a two-car crash in east Hull. The incident happened at the junction between Holderness Road and Williamson Street at around 8pm on Wednesday (April 8).
Police say three people were seriously injured in the collision. It’s reported that a red Jeep Avenger was heading northbound from Williamson Street when it was involved in a crash with a silver Honda Civic that was travelling westbound on Holderness Road. The Jeep then “came to a stop after colliding with a building at the junction”.
A Humberside Police spokesperson said: “Emergency services were swiftly deployed, and a 24-year-old woman, a passenger in the Honda, was taken to hospital to receive treatment to injuries that are thought to be life changing at this time. The driver of the Honda, a 37-year-old man, and an occupant of the Jeep, a 33-year-old man, were also taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.”
Police say their enquiries so far have “not been able to establish the driver of the Jeep” and, as as result, two men have been arrested. A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, dangerous driving and driving whilst over the alcohol limit.
Meanwhile, a 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspension of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving whilst above the limit of a controlled drug. Both men remain in police custody.
A road closure that was in place while emergency services responded to the incident has since been lifted.
The police spokesperson added: “Extensive enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident, and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV or dashcam footage from around the time of the collision, to please call our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 525 of 9 April 2026.”
