One of world football’s most famous prizes is heading to the area

While it might not have been Hull City‘s year in the FA Cup, local football fans will still be able to experience the magic close to home as the famous trophy makes its way to two well-known pubs in the area this weekend. To begin with, the iconic silverware will be on display at the Hallgate Tavern, in Cottingham, on Saturday, April 11 from 12pm until 3pm.

It will offer a rare chance to get up close with one of the most prestigious trophies in world football, snap a photo and soak up some FA Cup history – all without the need for a trip to Wembley! Fans will also get a second chance to grab a photo with the trophy, as it heads to The Apollo, in Holderness Road, Hull, from 4pm until 7pm on the same day.

The Hallgate Tavern recently reopened after a £350,000 refurbishment, revealing its new Grandstand sports pub concept. The investment has turned the pub into a premium live sport venue, featuring enhanced viewing zones, upgraded seating, contemporary décor and numerous large screens designed to bring supporters closer to the action during major matchdays.

Ioannis Grammenos, general manager at the Hallgate Tavern, said: “Being able to bring such an iconic trophy right into the heart of the village is something we’re really excited about. As a Grandstand venue, we’re all about big sporting moments, and this is one fans of all ages won’t want to miss.

“Whether you’re a lifelong football supporter or a younger fan seeing the FA Cup up close for the first time, it’s a brilliant chance to come down, soak up the atmosphere and experience a piece of football history.”

The special visit has been arranged with support from TNT Sports, forming part of a broader tour taking the FA Cup beyond stadiums and into communities across the region.

Four teams remains in contention to lift the FA Cup this year with Wembley Stadium set to host the semi finals between Manchester City and Southampton, and Chelsea and Leeds United later this month.
