A new venture for Hull FC forward Brad Fash – who is eyeing a new deal at his hometown club.
Next week is a big one for Hull FC forward Brad Fash. The 30-year-old is set to play his 200th game for his hometown club against St Helens on April 16, but before that, he’ll open a new tyre business venture called ‘New Tyre Empire’.
Frustrated with the service he was getting, Fash has decided to take matters into his own hands, opening up the new shop on April 13.
Situated on Goulton Street off hessle-road>Hessle Road, Fash is sticking to his West Hull roots, and his aim is simple: give something back to his community.
A proud Hull lad, the prop forward, who has also featured in the back row this season, is also thinking of life after rugby, not that the boots will be hung up anytime soon.
“I’m just sick of getting ripped off for tyres, so I’m opening my own shop,” Fash said. “I thought it was too expensive everywhere I went; it’s not quick, so I spoke to a few friends and we’re going to get one going next week. Hopefully we can get it going and people can come down and get their tyres done fast and cheap.”
Opening up on his role within the shop, Fash continued: “I’ll be supervising first. I am going to learn (to fit tyres) and see how I go from there. I’m excited.
“I’ve got one eye on the future. I’ve been playing for 11 seasons now so you’ve got to look at it and see what happens. I’m a Hull-born kid too and I love Hull. It’s about giving back a little bit as well.
“It’s going to be cheap, and it’s going to be a place where people can come and feel like they have got good value for money and be happy with the service they get.
“It’s something I want to try and help out the community, really. It’ll be good for me and the people involved.”
Turning 30 back in January, the forward, out of contract at Hull at the end of the season, still has a good ‘four to five’ years left in him yet. But after his playing days are done, there’ll be no coaching, just watching his son play in the community game and getting to grips with his new business venture.
“I’m going to play rugby for as long as I can to the best of my ability,” Fash said. “I’m not going to coach. I’m not chilled out enough to be a coach.
“I do too much swearing and shouting. I don’t think I’ve got the right temperament. I think this is going to be my thing and this is what I will do full-time.
“But I’ve still got more in me yet. I think the ceiling for a middle is 35/36 these days, so hopefully I’ve got five or six more years in me, and then hopefully I can sort and fit some tyres myself.”
Debuting for Hull in 2015, Fash had accumulated 199 club appearances to date and has been one of Hull’s most consistent players so far this season. He was denied the milestone in Good Friday’s milestone derby against Hull KR due to a head knock, but should he pass his return to play protocols, then he’ll be good to go against the Saints.
“It means a lot to me to play for Hull FC,” he said. “I’ve played for over 10 years now and I’m really proud of that. It really means a lot to me.”
Playing for Hull for a decade also saw Fash granted a testimonial for the 2026 season. He played his official match back in January and has some exciting events still to come this year.
“The testimonial has been going great,” he added. “We’ve had three to four events now; we’ve got races, darts, and ladies’ nights coming up. There are all sorts of things lined up.
“Hopefully we can get some people down and have some fun. The recent hairdressing event went well. We had a few kids come in. They seem happy. It was nice.
“I didn’t do any haircutting, though. I wouldn’t trust myself with anything like that. But it’s been good. I’m really enjoying it and I appreciate all of the support.”
