The homes are part of a wider housing project

Plans for 161 new homes in east Hull have been approved by Hull City Council. The homes make up a part of the wider Ings development off Bellfield Avenue.

Permission has now been granted for sections 3a, 3c, and 4a of the wider Ings development, parts of which have already been completed. The application initially sought permission for 166 homes, but this was lowered to 161 to allow for tree retention.

The homes will range from two to four bedrooms, each being two-storey. All of the homes in this part of the development will be either detached or semi-detached.

The plans do not include the existing Day Centre on Bellfield Avenue, however the land of the Day Centre is seen as an option for expanding the Ings development project. This land is labelled on documents as a “potential future phase”.

The site is currently empty grassland following the demolition of the former Ings Estate. According to documents submitted to the council during the application process, the houses that were previously on the land “had exceeded their serviceable life-span” and were therefore demolished.

The wider site will include the ‘Ings Central Park’. The 1.1 hectare piece of open space will be located to the North of sections 3a, 3c, and 4a – towards the centre of the wider scheme.

Plans show the new park will include a play area, pathways, and various trees, among other features. Low-level wooden barriers will be implemented to prevent vehicle access to the park.

No new ‘additional-use’ buildings such as shops are proposed alongside the new homes. Such services are already “well provided for on nearby Saltshouse Road and at the Ings centre on Savoy Road/Bellfield Avenue,” plans say.
