The area is one of three in Hull set to receive £20m over ten years
A Chair has been appointed to head Orchard Park‘s Pride in Place Community Board. The area is one of three in Hull set to receive £20m over ten years as a part of the Government’s new Pride in Place scheme.
The funding, the Government say, will support “improvements people can see on their doorstep, champion local leadership, foster community engagement, and strengthen social cohesion.” The scheme was recently expanded by a further 40 areas, taking the total to almost 300. Both Greatfield and Boulevard & St Andrews will also receive the funding.
A Community Board consisting of various local stakeholders, is being set up in each Pride in Place area. Each being led by a chair.
Jo Lorenz has been appointed to lead the Orchard Park Community Board. The appointment follows a positive response from the community, with a number of local residents applying for the role. A selection panel made up of Dame Diana Johnson MP, Orchard Park ward councillor Rosie Nicola, and a Hull City Council officer interviewed shortlisted candidates and jointly agreed the appointment.
On her appointment, Ms Lorenz said: “I am delighted to be appointed to the role of Independent Chair of the Orchard Park Pride in Place Board. This is an amazing opportunity to make a real difference in the area, with a genuine community-led approach with local residents. I am excited to get started.”

Dame Diana added: “I want to thank everyone who applied for the role of Chair of the Orchard Park Pride in Place Board. It’s fantastic to see such enthusiasm from local people who want to make a difference in Orchard Park.
“I’m looking forward to working alongside Jo, local councillors and the new Board, which represents a range of voices from Orchard Park. The Board will now hear from residents about how they want this Pride in Place investment from the Labour Government used to improve life in Orchard Park and to give the area that extra boost that it needs.”
