Hull FC produced a below-par performance against Leigh.

Hull FC are out of the Challenge Cup following a 16-6 defeat at Leigh Leopards on Saturday afternoon. Here are the ratings.

Zak Hardaker – Selected at full-back and did okay albeit in defeat. Safe under the high ball and returned well. Made a couple of breaks in the second half. 5

Tom Briscoe – Was rounded by Innes Senior for Leigh’s first try. Saw little ball in good attacking opportunity. 4

Arthur Romano – Had a dig. Stood up defensively. Some big hits. Ran hard. One of Hull’s best. That’s been a consistent theme so far this year. 5

Davy Litten – Back in the centre spot, ran hard, and had some openings, but couldn’t finish them. A tough day. Chased back by Josh Charnley with the veteran winger making a try saving tackle. 4

Lewis Martin – Bundled into touch twice early on. Had to do a lot of tough, hard work but didn’t back down. 4

Jake Arthur – Struggled to link into the attack and didn’t look fluent. That’s a team thing though. 4

Aidan Sezer – As above. It’s not through the lack of trying, but it’s not coming off. 4

Harvie Hill – Hull were smothered early on and Hill was part of that. A tough afternoon. 4

Amir Bourouh – Brought off in the first half. Struggled in a first half that Leigh dominated. Came back on late in the game. 4

Yusuf Aydin – The prop tried but found little joy. 4

James Bell – The Kiwi made his first Hull start in the back row after a club debut off the bench last week. Tough on an edge but kept going. 4

Connor Bailey – Given a start but struggled in a side that played on the backfoot. 4

John Asiata – Got through a scare in the second half. Finished the game after going down in visible pain. Tried to get Hull going before that but it was a tough game all round. 5

Cade Cust – Brought Hull’s only injection of pace in the first half. Got a try and played with energy. Sin binned late on after a coming together with Lachlan Lam, who was also yellow carded. 5
