Rovers meet the Giants on Saturday afternoon

Hull KR return to Challenge Cup action on Saturday as the quest to hold on to the trophy they famously won last year continues. There’s a familiar opponent awaiting in Huddersfield Giants, who Rovers comfortably beat last week in the Super League.

Back at the Accu Stadium for the second successive week, it’s not just the venue and teams that are familiar, with Rovers set to go with an almost identical line-up in their fourth-round clash.

A three-match suspension for new Aussie import Karl Lawton, picked up for a tackle last week against the Giants, has ruled him out of a second taste of the Challenge Cup for the new signing. Jack Charles comes into the 21-man squad to replace Lawton in what is the only change by head coach Willie Peters.

Hooker Bill Leyland is expected to take Lawton’s place in the matchday 17 on Saturday afternoon, with Peters expected to resist the temptation to sit out any of his senior players.

Such are the current injury problems for the Giants, head coach Luke Robinson has only been able to name a 19-man squad for the game, with the squad boosted by a number of reserve players. Matty English, George Flanagan, Connor Carr and Tanguy Zenon drop out of the squad named last week by the Giants, with Roman Sharma and Monty Lumb added.
