The famous Percy Pig was part of the celebrations at the reopening of Marks and Spencer in Anlaby Retail Park today. After closing for the makeover at the end of January, the supermarket has rebranded from ‘M&S Foodhall’ to ‘M&S Food’ with a raft of upgrades made to the 16-year-old store.

Tracey Vessey, store manager, has more than 40 years’ experience with the company and officially opened the revamped M&S Food this morning. The customers who were among the first through the doors received free goodies, including Percy Pig shoulder bags.

Changes made include the addition of a larger in-store bakery serving fresh croissants, pastries, and other treats, and a coffee counter with a range of drinks available.

There is also one of the famous M&S ‘cheese barges’ featuring speciality cheeses and accompaniments such as chutneys, artisan crackers, and preserves. Just in time for Mother’s Day, there is a dedicated flower and wine shop.

Hull Live was invited to the reopening and we were happy to see plenty of Percy Pig’s pal Colin the Caterpillar on the shelves! Take a look at our video, above, and a gallery of photographs, below, for a peek of what you can expect inside the overhauled M&S Food.
