Hull FC were opening round winners over Bradford. Here are the ratings.
Hull FC got their Super League season up and running with a 27-20 victory over Bradford Bulls on Saturday evening. Here are the ratings.
Will Pryce – The talented full-back assisted Hull’s two first half tries, first for Joe Batchelor with a kick and then Harvey Barron with a cut out pass. He was also five from five from tee and landed the decisive drop-goal to edge Hull ahead late on. But his best moments perhaps game in defence, with Pryce standing tall with the defensive side of his game, making two try-saving tackles. A stunning display. 9
Harvey Barron – The winger finished well for his try and, as always, ran strong in the backfield. 7
Zak Hardaker – Did his job in defence and attack. Got involved in what was a big battle up against Waqa Blake. 6
Davy Litten – The centre fended tackles off for his try and ran strong all game. 7
Lewis Martin – The flying winger is a try machine, we all know that, but what stood out here was the hard work in the backfield and his try saving tackle in the second half. His chase back to shut down Bradford was full of grit and determination – and it’s those qualities that got Hull over the line. 7
Callum Kemp – The young half-back ran the ball well at times and he got stuck in. Defensively, he never backed down, despite how much traffic came at him. 6
Aidan Sezer – Hull’s attack missed that middle link in the absence of John Asiata and James Bell but Sezer still had his moments and distributed the ball well, as demonstrated by his pass for Litten’s try. Put some threatening kicks up. 6
Liam Knight – Ran hard and strong in his two stints, providing the offload for Cust to score late on. 6
Amir Bourouh – The hooker won Hull some key penalties during the game with his scoots. Some smart decisions when to run and when to pass. Tenacious in defence, too. 6
Harvie Hill – Ran hard in his two stints and got through a solid workload. 6
Joe Batchelor – Supported Pryce well to chase the full-back’s kick and score Hull’s first try. 6
Arthur Romano – Got through loads of work in the back row, both defensively and in attack. Some pressure relieving carries at times. 6
Yusuf Aydin – Got through a massive stint at loose-forward. He’s started the season well. 6
Cade Cust – Played hooker and half-back and was always looking for running opportunities. Had an impact and was rewarded with the match-clinching try. 7
Sam Lisone – The big prop packed a punch off the bench. He won Hull some penalties with his strong carries and got them on the front foot. 8
Ligi Sao – Really solid. Like Lisone, he had a big impact and continued to crash into the Bradford defence. Also defended well. 7
Brad Fash – Came on in the second half for a stint and did his jon to effect. 6
