This weekend’s closures are ‘no longer required’ and there are changes for the World Club Challenge game
What you need to know about upcoming A63 Castle Street closures
- Overnight closures between 8pm and 6am are set to continue “until the end of March” as the A63 Castle Street project reaches its final stages, National Highways says. Work on the major scheme to develop a split-level junction at Mytongate has been going on for around six years but is expected to be completed this Spring.
- Previously planned overnight closures for both the east and westbound carriageways on Saturday, February 14, and Sunday, February 15, are “no longer required”. While these closures are cancelled, weekend slots are now being held as a contingency for any essential works that may arise.
- Regular overnight closures will resume immediately after the weekend, starting Monday, February 16.
- For the World Club Challenge clash between Hull KR and Brisbane Broncos at the MKM Stadium on Thursday, February 19, the eastbound carriageway will stay open until 10.30pm to accommodate fans. Fans leaving the stadium can exit the city westbound via Rawling Way (Daltry St Flyover) and other A63 westbound entry slips this point.
- Ongoing overnight activity is focused on the new split-level junction at Mytongate, including paving, lighting, planting, and technology installation.
- National Highways confirmed that the newly-constructed underpass is expected to open to traffic soon marking a significant milestone for the project.
