The Tigers admitted their part in the late-night Lancashire shenanigans
Championship high-fliers Hull City have been slapped with a £75,000 fine for the events late on in the 3-0 win at Preston North End last month.
City were coasting to a dominant victory at Deepdale when Milutin Osmajic headbutted John Lundstram in stoppage time. Osmajic was dismissed by referee Stephen Martin, but both benches then got involved in ugly scenes, with Tigers goalkeeping coach Erbil Bozkurt sent off, along with North End coach Peter Murphy.
Both coaches have been handed fines, with Bozkurt given a £1,000 one and Murphy £2,000, along with one-match suspensions, which means the City goalkeeping coach will not be on the bench for Saturday’s home meeting with Bristol City at the MKM Stadium.
For their part, Paul Heckingbottom’s North End were hit with a £50,000 fine. It’s the third time in recent weeks that City have been punished by the FA. The Tigers were fined for their part in a pre-half-time brawl at Birmingham City in October and then again after the win at Stoke City in late November.

The FA say they will publish the findings of their investigation in due course, which will outline what the referee’s verdict was and the reasoning for the increased fine.
“An independent Regulatory Commission has imposed various sanctions in relation to the EFL Championship fixture between Preston North End FC and Hull City AFC on Tuesday, 20 January 2026,” the FA said in a statement.
“It was alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players and/or technical area occupants did not behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the 98th minute. Preston North End FC and Hull City AFC admitted the charges against them, and the Regulatory Commission imposed fines of £50,000 and £75,000 on the clubs respectively, following a hearing.
“It was further alleged that a Preston North End FC first team coach and the Hull City AFC goalkeeping coach acted in an improper manner around the 98th minute, which led to their dismissals. Peter Murphy and Erbil Bozkurt also accepted their charges, and the Regulatory Commission imposed one-match touchline suspensions on both of them as well as respective fines of £2,000 and £1,000.”
